Mint 2.0: Japanese Cards Are Here

Hey everyone!

Mint 2.0 is out, and it's the update I've been teasing since New Year: Japanese cards are here! This is the biggest step for Mint since launch, and it's the feature you've asked me about more than anything else.

Japanese Cards

More than 160 Japanese sets are now in Mint, from the Black & White era in 2010 right up to MEGA Dream ex and the Japanese 30th Celebration set. That's over 15,000 cards, each with its printed Japanese name, the English name underneath, and CardMarket prices.

Switching is simple: tap the new EN/JP switch in sets, search or card details, and Mint shows you Japanese cards instead. Your choice is remembered, so if you mostly collect Japanese cards, you only have to flip it once.

Scan Japanese Cards

The scanner speaks Japanese now too. Set it to JP with the flag button on the camera and it reads Japanese names, set codes and numbers. Japanese names can be tricky for text recognition, so when a name doesn't read cleanly, Mint finds the card by its set code and number instead.

Japanese Cards in Your Collection

Japanese cards show their printed name and a small JP flag in your portfolio and binders, so you can always tell your Japanese and international copies apart.

Siri & Shortcuts

Ask Siri "What's my Mint collection worth?", check a card's price hands-free, or jump straight into the scanner. The cards you own also show up in Spotlight search.

A Faster, Steadier Scanner

I spent a lot of time on the scanner for this release. The camera starts faster, it locks onto cards you're holding in your hand and holo cards with glare, and it reads cards held sideways or even upside down. Scarlet & Violet (SVP) and Mega Evolution (MEP) promos are recognized too.

eBay Sold Prices for New Sets

The eBay sold prices for graded cards now cover almost twice as many cards, including the newest sets. Ascended Heroes chase cards like Pikachu ex (276) finally have their PSA, BGS and CGC sales.

Plus: better translations in every language, support for resizable windows on iPad and iPhone Mirroring, a widget that keeps showing your last portfolio value when you're offline, and plenty of smaller fixes.

A Few Notes on Japanese Prices

Japanese price history started recording on September 23, so the charts for Japanese cards are still filling in and get more useful every day. Japanese cards only have CardMarket prices for now, as TCGPlayer doesn't list them. Japanese sealed products are next on my list.

If you run into anything or have feedback about Japanese cards, I'd love to hear from you at josh@getmint.app :)

Thank you for being part of the Mint community!
