How we handle your data

Introduction

Mint App ("us," "we," or "our") operates an application called Mint ("Application"). Our basic service is offered free of charge, while we may also offer paid subscriptions for advanced features.

Mint helps you track and manage your Pokémon TCG collection and portfolio. We store your collection data in your iCloud account and calculate portfolio analytics on our servers to provide you with market insights and investment tracking.

While we make every effort to handle your data responsibly, we cannot be held accountable for accidental data sharing caused by user error or similar incidents. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices and commitments to your privacy.

Understanding and Accepting the Policy

By accessing or using any part of Mint, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy. If you don't fully agree with these terms, we respectfully ask that you refrain from using Mint.

Personal Information We Collect

We collect only the personal information necessary to provide our services or to enhance our product.

iCloud Integration

Mint uses Apple's iCloud to store your collection data. We collect your iCloud User ID (a unique identifier provided by Apple) to link your portfolio data with your iCloud account. This allows us to sync your collection across your devices and calculate portfolio analytics on our servers.

Your collection data, including the cards you own and their details, is stored in your iCloud account and synchronized with our servers for portfolio calculations.

Portfolio & Collection Data

We store the following data on our servers to provide portfolio analytics and market intelligence:

  • Your iCloud User ID (for data association)
  • Portfolio value and historical performance
  • Cards in your portfolio with quantities and values
  • Top holdings and gain/loss calculations
  • Return on investment (ROI) metrics
  • Collection completion statistics

This data is necessary to calculate and display your portfolio performance, market trends, and investment insights.

Notification Preferences

If you enable price alerts or product notifications, we store:

  • Your device token for sending push notifications
  • Products you're tracking for price changes
  • Your notification preferences

This data is linked to your iCloud User ID and stored on our servers to deliver timely alerts about price changes and market opportunities.

Card Grading Data

When you use our AI-powered card grading feature, card images are sent to OpenAI's API for analysis. We do not store those images on our servers or in your iCloud. The images are processed by OpenAI in real-time and immediately discarded after grading.

Product Feedback

We collect the content of any feedback, feature request, or issue report you submit through Mint. You may choose to include diagnostic information during this process.

Contact Information

If you email us, we store your email address along with the content and attachments of your message.

Usage Insights

We collect analytics data to help us improve Mint. This data includes:

  • User Segmentation: Collector type, portfolio value tier, engagement level
  • Collection Activity: Cards added (including card details, method, variant, price, condition, grading status), collection milestones, completion percentages
  • Portfolio Activity: Items added or removed, chart interactions, currency switches
  • Search Behavior: Search queries, result counts, filters used, search duration
  • Navigation: Deep link opens, button taps, feature usage
  • Technical Data: App version, platform, device model, errors and crashes

This analytics data is tied to your iCloud User ID and helps us understand how users interact with Mint, which features are most valuable, and where we can improve the experience.

Analytics collection is currently enabled by default and there is no opt-out option available. Data collected via analytics is retained for one year.

Crash Reporting & Error Monitoring

We use Sentry.io to automatically collect crash reports and error information when Mint encounters technical issues. This helps us identify and fix bugs quickly to improve app stability.

Crash reports may include:

  • Device information (model, OS version)
  • App version and build number
  • Stack traces and error messages
  • User actions leading up to the crash
  • iCloud User ID (for troubleshooting)

This data is retained for 90 days and is used solely for debugging and improving app reliability.

Payment Processing

We offer optional paid subscriptions for additional features within the Mint app. All payments are processed securely through the Apple App Store, ensuring your financial information is handled with utmost care and privacy.

When you make a purchase, the Apple App Store may collect certain financial information from you, such as your credit card number and billing address, to process your payment. Please note that Mint does not have access to your financial details during this transaction.

RevenueCat & Consumption Data Sharing

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. To help Apple resolve refund requests, we share consumption data about your usage of purchased features with Apple.

Consent to Share Consumption Data with Apple: By using our app and making in-app purchases, you consent to our sharing of data regarding your usage and consumption of purchased content with Apple, as part of our efforts to resolve refund requests. This information may include details about how you have accessed and interacted with the purchased content. The purpose of sharing this data is to help Apple make an informed decision regarding refund requests. We ensure that such data sharing is done in compliance with Apple's policies and only as necessary to process your requests.

Third-Party Services

PostHog Analytics

We utilize PostHog, a third-party analytics service, to track usage data and understand how users interact with Mint. PostHog helps us improve the overall user experience through detailed insights.

Analytics collection is currently enabled by default with no opt-out option available. Data collected via PostHog is stored in Frankfurt, Germany (EU), for a duration of one year.

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat processes transaction data to provide subscription management features. For more information, please visit RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

OpenAI

When you use our card grading feature, card images are sent to OpenAI's API for real-time analysis. We do not store these images. For more information about how OpenAI processes data, please visit their Privacy Policy.

Sentry.io

We use Sentry.io for crash reporting and error monitoring to help us identify and fix technical issues. Sentry automatically collects crash data, stack traces, and error information when the app encounters problems. This data is retained for 90 days. Our Use of Your Personal Information

We primarily use your personal information to provide and improve the services offered through Mint. We do not use your personal information for marketing or third-party advertising.

Powering the Application's Services

The personal information collected is necessary to provide the core functionalities of the Mint application:

  • Your iCloud User ID links your collection data between iCloud and our servers
  • Portfolio data is processed on our servers to calculate market trends, investment metrics, and performance analytics
  • Collection data enables us to provide completion tracking and insights
  • Notification preferences allow us to send timely price alerts

Communication

We may use your contact information to respond to your inquiries, provide technical support, or notify you of any updates or changes to our services.

Product Feedback

Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve Mint. When you submit feedback or report an issue, we store your email and the content of your message to understand your perspective better and make necessary improvements.

Security

We are committed to ensuring your data's security. We implement various security measures to prevent unauthorized access and maintain the safety of your personal information. However, please remember that no security system is impenetrable.

Improving the Product

Usage insights collected through PostHog allow us to understand how users interact with Mint and which features are most popular. This helps us improve the application and tailor it to meet user needs effectively.

Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected:

  • Analytics Data (PostHog): Retained for one year
  • Portfolio & Collection Data: Retained on our servers until you request deletion
  • iCloud Data: Stored in your iCloud account and can be deleted by you through iCloud settings
  • Email Communications: You can contact us at any time to request deletion

Important: When you delete the Mint app, your portfolio and collection data on our servers is not automatically removed. To delete this data, please contact us at josh@getmint.app with your request.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to third parties for their marketing purposes. We only share data with the following services necessary to operate Mint:

  • PostHog: Analytics and usage insights (anonymized where possible)
  • RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase management
  • OpenAI: Real-time card grading (images not stored)
  • Sentry.io: Crash reports and error monitoring for debugging
  • Apple: Consumption data for refund processing (with your consent)

In the event of a security breach, we may be required to share information with law enforcement or regulatory authorities.

Protection of Your Personal Information

Your personal information's security is of utmost importance to us. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Secure HTTPS connections for all data transmission
  • Encrypted database storage on our servers
  • iCloud encryption for your collection data
  • Regular security audits and monitoring

While no system can guarantee 100% security, we take significant measures to protect your information according to this Privacy Policy.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data we hold
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data from our servers
  • Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format

Children's Privacy

Mint is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at josh@getmint.app.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Should any updates be made, a notice will be provided in the Mint app. Your continued use of Mint after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
